The Art of Hand Planing in Creating an Oak Table

Hand-finished oak table in a modern interior

In our workshop, every piece of furniture tells a story, and the hand planing technique is the master's signature.

The process of creating a dining table from solid oak wood begins with the careful selection of material. We use exclusively wood from sustainable sources, adhering to our firm principles against illegal logging.

Processing and Texture

After preliminary cutting and assembly, the surface is prepared for the most important stage: hand planing. This traditional technique, performed with special tools, highlights the wood's natural grain, creating a deep and warm texture impossible to replicate with machines.

The rustic style is amplified by the light marks of the tool, which give it an authentic character, while for a modern design, the finish is more uniform but retains the organic quality of the material.

Materials and Finishing Techniques

  • Wood: Solid oak, naturally dried.
  • Finish: Natural oils and beeswax, without toxic chemicals.
  • Texture: Achieved through planing and hand sanding.
  • Assembly: Traditional joinery (dovetail, mortise-and-tenon) for maximum durability.

Finishing with natural oils not only protects the wood but also intensifies its color and grain, allowing it to breathe and age with dignity. This is our philosophy: furniture that lives with your home.

"The sawdust on the floor and the smell of freshly cut wood are not just waste and aroma. They are proof of a slow, respectful process, where every step is a conscious choice against excessive industrialization."

Whether the project is a table, a set of chairs, or shelves, the approach remains the same: craftsmanship, patience, and love for detail. The result is a unique object, bearing the imprint of the workshop and the client for whom it was created.
